TEACHING
If it can be said that Celia Friedman was born to write, then it can also be said she was born to teach. Celia spent 15 years as a University Costume Designer, during which she time she designed and produced costumes for over 100 productions at a variety of university and professional theaters. Celia has also served as Guest Lecturer in both writing and costuming at Universities and Conventions for a wide variety of age groups and educational levels.
Students praise her accessible manner, her clear and constructive criticism, and her down-to-earth approach to creative issues. She prides herself on removing writing from the realm of dreams and providing clear and concrete guidance to aspiring writers and artists.
Celia currently teaches writing part-time in Northern Virginia, an arrangement which allows her the time she needs for her own creative efforts. She appears regularly as Guest of Honor at genre conventions and as a Guest Speaker for various schools, professional conventions, community groups, and historical societies. She is always looking for new opportunities to teach, and welcomes inquiries from schools and organizations that are interested.
